A Mouthful of Sunshine — Cotton Bedding Set

Sometimes the brightest thing in the room isn't happiness.

A Mouthful of Sunshine began as an original drawing about trying to find light inside yourself when everything around you—and sometimes everything inside you—feels dark.

The piece came from a period in my life when medication changed the way I felt. There was brightness where there hadn't been before, but that brightness came with a strange feeling of disconnection. I could feel different without necessarily feeling like myself.

So I drew it.

A mouth filled with brilliant, almost unnatural sunlight. Golden warmth spills over the lips while darkness surrounds it completely.

Like much of my artwork, A Mouthful of Sunshine isn't meant to tell you exactly what you're supposed to feel when you look at it. It's an attempt to give physical form to something I couldn't explain with words.

Maybe you see hope in it. Maybe you see something artificial. Maybe it's about swallowing the light, trying to hold onto it, or having so much of it forced inside that eventually some has to spill out.

Whatever you see, that's part of the piece.

Set against deep black, the original artwork becomes a bold centerpiece for the room, with coordinating pillowcases carrying the same design.
